Notable Figure Cain Makes Return: Assassin's Resurgence
Marvellous Cain, the renowned British MC, has returned to the music scene with his latest album, "Return of the Hitman." The album, out now from Suburban Base Records, is a compilation of previously unreleased tracks that have been remastered for a fresh listen.
The title track, "The Hitman," was initially released through IQ Records and saw moderate success, selling around 5-10,000 copies. However, the remixes of this classic hit have proven to be a success, breathing new life into the track. One of the notable remixes was done by Nicky Blackmarket in a 'Dubplate Style,' which was used as a VIP dub on the 'Return Of The Hitman' album.
The album features collaborations with reggae legends such as Pinchers, Pliers, Beanie Man, Cutty Ranks, and others, adding a unique twist to the modern hip-hop sound. Some of the tracks were forgotten about by Marvellous Cain himself, but have been dusted off and given a new lease of life on the album.
One of the standout tracks is "Love Train," described as the sound of summer and already played twice on BBC Radio. This big upcoming track is sure to be a hit with fans old and new.
The album contains 16 tracks on 4 slices of vinyl, with an additional 10 cuts in the digital bundle. The production process for "Return of the Hitman" is not documented in detail, but it appears that the album was compiled from previously unreleased tracks.
Suburban Base Records, the label behind the album, is known for their hoarding of DAT tapes and regular updates on the latest D&B news through their newsletter. The studio set up for making 'The Hitman' in the 90's consisted of an N-Sonic sampler, a little mixing desk, a delay unit, a drum machine, and arrangements on floppy discs. Today, the studio set up is PC based, with a G7 computer, Cubase, various plugins, a pair of Rockit's, and midi keyboards.
FreezeUK's involvement on the 'Return Of The Hitman' album was due to the album project, where they added a couple of new, extra tracks. Marvellous Cain's earlier work includes his 1995 album, "Gun Talk."
