Nissan Hits 1 Million Global EV Sales Milestone

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has achieved a significant milestone with over 1 million global sales of electric vehicles (EVs). The Japanese automaker has also received widespread recognition for its EV models, including multiple design awards for the Nissan Ariya and the successful launch of the Sakura, its first EV in the Japanese minivehicle market.

The Nissan Ariya, launched in 2022, has been making waves in the EV industry. It has won prestigious design awards such as the Auto Color Award 2021 Grand Prix and the Red Dot Design Award. This innovative model features advanced technologies like e-4ORCE all-wheel control and ProPILOT 2.0, enhancing its performance and driver experience.

The Nissan Sakura, introduced in 2022, has also garnered attention. It has received 50,000 cumulative orders and won three notable awards in Japan, including the 2022–2023 Japan Car of the Year and Kei Car of the Year. This minivan is Nissan's first EV in the Japanese minivehicle market and has contributed significantly to the company's EV sales.

Nissan's EV success is not limited to Japan. The company has sold over 650,000 units of the Nissan LEAF worldwide since its launch in 2010. Japan, North America, Europe, and China are the top regions for Nissan's EV sales, with Japan leading at 230,000 units.

Looking ahead, Nissan plans to launch 19 EV models by fiscal year 2030 under its Nissan Ambition 2030 vision. The company also aims to introduce EVs powered by all-solid-state batteries by fiscal year 2028, further cementing its commitment to sustainable mobility.

With over 1 million global EV sales, Nissan has solidified its position as a leader in the electric vehicle market. The success of models like the Ariya and Sakura, along with the ongoing popularity of the LEAF, demonstrates the company's ability to innovate and adapt to the growing demand for EVs. Nissan's ambitious plans for the future, including the launch of 19 EV models and all-solid-state battery-powered EVs, indicate a strong commitment to driving the industry forward.
