Nio's July Deliveries Show Mixed Results

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, Nio, recently released its July delivery figures, revealing a mixed performance for its various models.

The Nio main brand delivered 12,675 vehicles in July, marking a 38.16 percent year-on-year decrease and a 13.14 percent drop from June. The ES6 coupe SUV was the highest-selling model within the Nio brand, delivering 3,359 units in July 202x. The ET5 Touring, the brand's most popular model in July, delivered 4,418 units, despite a year-on-year decrease of 13.59 percent and a month-on-month decrease of 13.42 percent. The ES8 SUV, which saw a significant increase in deliveries, delivered 1,090 units in July 202x, marking a new high since January 2024.

The Onvo sub-brand, which includes the Onvo L90, delivered 5,976 vehicles in July, a decrease from June. The Onvo L90, which was officially launched on July 31 and began deliveries on August 1, has seen a doubling of delivery wait times to 8-10 weeks. Over 70% of Onvo L90 customers have opted for the BaaS plan. The standard ET5 sedan, the third-highest delivering Nio model in July, delivered 1,480 units.

Interestingly, the ES7 SUV did not make any deliveries in July or June. The ET9, Nio's most expensive model with a starting price of RMB 788,000 ($109,740), delivered 85 units in July, down 72.31 percent from June.

Looking ahead, Nio is set to unveil the new ES8 model later this month, with the event scheduled for August 21, 2025, in Chengdu, China. The official launch and sales commencement are scheduled for Nio Day 2025, which will take place on September 20, 2025, in Hangzhou, China. Some automotive bloggers have suggested that the new ES8's debut event will take place on August 20.

Despite the overall decline in deliveries, the positive performance of the ES8 and the upcoming release of the new ES8 model offer a glimmer of hope for Nio's future growth.
