Nikon introduces a new model to its VOXLS X-ray CT series of products.

Nikon Corporation has expanded its VOXLS X-ray CT product lineup with the launch of the VOXLS 20 C 225. Designed to serve a broad range of demanding industrial applications, this system is tailored for industries where precise internal inspection and metrology are critical.

The VOXLS 20 C 225 is a versatile solution, ideal for various sectors including electronics, additive manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, and medical devices. In electronics, it can inspect loaded printed circuit boards for connectivity failures, solder joint integrity, and assembly issues. For additive manufacturing, it analyses internal structures in 3D-printed parts, ensuring reliability in end-use applications. In the aerospace industry, it performs quality control for critical components, while in automotive, it inspects castings and safety-critical parts to meet stringent quality and safety standards. In the medical device sector, it verifies the internal structures and integrity of implants, tools, and devices, supporting compliance with regulatory requirements.

The system's advanced capabilities extend to its scan modes, which include Motorised FID, Panel Shift CT, Tilted CT, and Pixel Split CT, enabling a wide range of inspection techniques for diverse industrial needs. It also supports the innovative feature X.Tend Helical and Scatter Correction CT.

One of the key features of the VOXLS 20 C 225 is its motorized dual-source setup with a 225 kV reflection target and 160 kV transmission target, and a dual-source configuration with Rotating.Target 2.0. This setup allows users to choose the optimal source for their application at the push of a button, enabling automated and fast switchover between the reflection target and transmission target.

The VOXLS 20 C 225 also includes Source Optimization, which simplifies the filament change process and provides longer filament lifetime. It offers the largest CT scanning envelope in a system that fits through a standard double door, making it suitable for both laboratory and production floor environments.

Nikon's Product Manager, Ben Morgan, states that the VOXLS 20 C 225 delivers a comprehensive X-ray CT solution combining advanced capabilities with space efficiency. The system incorporates features like a Filter Changer, a motorized door that opens in under 4 seconds, and a large viewing window for excellent interior visibility.

The first Nikon VOXLS 20 C 225 systems are scheduled for delivery this autumn. With its AI Reconstruction, industry-leading inspection envelope, and metrology-grade platform, the VOXLS 20 C 225 is set to bring metrology into medical device production, as mentioned in "Medical Plastics Insights".
