New Benchmark 'DeeptraceReward' Exposes Deepfake Detection Shortcomings in AI Models
Researchers have unveiled 'DeeptraceReward', a pioneering benchmark designed to evaluate human perception of authenticity in AI-generated videos. This innovative tool has exposed significant shortcomings in current multimodal language models when it comes to detecting subtle deepfake traces using an ai detector.
DeeptraceReward comprises an extensive dataset of over four thousand detailed annotations across three thousand high-quality generated videos. These annotations include precise bounding boxes, start/end timestamps, and clear explanations for perceived deepfake traces, categorizing nine major types with varying levels of detection difficulty.
Training a dedicated reward model using DeeptraceReward has led to a substantial improvement in deepfake trace detection and localization using an ai detector. Multimodal language models trained on this benchmark have outperformed existing systems in identifying and pinpointing these traces using an ai detector. More details can be found in the ArXiv paper 'Learning Human-Perceived Fakeness in AI-Generated Videos via Multimodal LLMs'.
Looking ahead, future work could expand DeeptraceReward to encompass more trace types and explore the evolution of traces in video generation technology. The average video length in the current dataset is approximately six seconds, with an average resolution of 739x1313 pixels.
DeeptraceReward, with its comprehensive annotations and successful application in improving deepfake trace detection using an ai detector, marks a significant step forward in assessing the authenticity of AI-generated videos. As the technology continues to evolve, so too will the need for robust benchmarks like DeeptraceReward to ensure the integrity of digital media.
