New Battery Giant Amplify Cell Technologies to Rise in Mississippi

A new battery factory, Amplify Cell Technologies, is set to rise in Marshall County, Mississippi. The joint venture, owned by Accelera by Cummins, Daimler Truck North America, and Paccar, will produce battery cells tailored for commercial and industrial applications in North America. EVE Energy, a technology partner, will contribute battery cell design and manufacturing expertise.

The factory's initial capacity stands at 21 GWh, with room for expansion based on demand. The venture aims to advance battery cells for commercial and industrial use, as noted by Jennifer Rumsey, chairperson and CEO of Cummins, and Preston Feight, CEO of Paccar. John O'Leary, president and CEO of Daimler Truck North America, highlighted the economies of scale enabled by the partnership.

Kel Kearns, with 30 years of global experience from Ford, has been appointed as the CEO of the joint venture. The venture is set to start production in 2027, marking a significant step towards zero-emission transportation.

Amplify Cell Technologies, with its 21-GWh initial capacity, is poised to revolutionize battery production for commercial and industrial applications. Backed by prominent industry players and EVE Energy's technological prowess, the venture is expected to drive advancements in battery technology and support the transition to sustainable transportation.
