MTN Côte d’Ivoire and Yango Partner to Boost Connectivity for Ride-Hailing Drivers

In a strategic move to support the ride-hailing ecosystem, MTN Côte d’Ivoire and Yango have announced a partnership. This collaboration aims to provide Yango's partner drivers with improved connectivity and cost savings.

Under the terms of the agreement, partner drivers will have access to unlimited data use for uninterrupted connectivity, ensuring seamless communication with customers and efficient navigation. Additionally, they will receive significantly reduced rates on internet, SMS, and calls, potentially saving each driver at least 10,000 CFA per month.

Yango is also providing free phone plans to their partner drivers throughout Côte d'Ivoire. The partnership reflects both companies' dedication to offering drivers the widest range of quality services at the best prices.

The collaboration focuses on simplifying and enhancing the daily operations of Yango's partner drivers. While specific details about the tailored fleet packages offered were not provided, a similar example from MTN Cameroon suggests that MTN may offer a dedicated SIM card package called "Special Yango Offer" to Yango drivers. This package bundles mobile services designed to support drivers' connectivity and operational needs.

On a broader scale, this partnership aligns with MTN’s objectives to support digital inclusion and mobile connectivity for gig economy participants such as ride-hailing drivers. By fostering technological ecosystem development, MTN aims to drive financial inclusion by enabling drivers to be more connected, productive, and potentially access additional digital services through MTN’s network.

This collaboration is part of Yango's ongoing commitment to offering drivers the best possible services. By providing enhanced digital support, Yango is committed to helping their partner drivers grow their businesses and increase their revenues. The partnership also contributes to the digital transformation goals in Africa, as enhanced telecommunication services empower more users with mobile internet and related digital tools necessary for economic participation.

The partnership between MTN Côte d’Ivoire and Yango is an exciting development for the ride-hailing industry in Côte d'Ivoire. Honoré Kouamé, Managing Director of MTN Business, and Kadotien Soron, Country Director of Yango Côte d'Ivoire, have expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. Both executives are optimistic about the potential benefits this partnership will bring to Yango's partner drivers and the wider ride-hailing ecosystem in Côte d'Ivoire.
