Modern Blancpain Diver: Revolutionary Strap System Remains a Permanent Feature
Blancpain has unveiled the latest addition to its renowned Fifty Fathoms line - the Tech 45mm diving watch. This new model boasts a sleek design, robust technical features, and a versatile strap system, making it an ideal choice for both serious divers and everyday wear.
The 45mm diameter and 14.1mm thickness case of the Tech 45mm is made from satin-brushed Grade 23 titanium, ensuring a lightweight yet durable build. The watch features an "Absolute Black" dial that absorbs 97% of visible light, minimising reflections, and enhancing legibility in murky depths. Luminescent block-shaped appliques emit green Super-LumiNova for excellent underwater readability.
The watch offers a 300-meter water resistance rating and includes a helium escape valve for saturation diving safety. Powering the Tech 45mm is Blancpain's in-house automatic caliber 1315A, running at 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), with a 120-hour (5-day) power reserve, 35 jewels, and displays hours, minutes, and central seconds. The movement is visible through a sapphire case back, showcasing finely finished plates and rotor.
The Tech 45mm's additional features include a quick-change, integrated rubber strap system with pin buckle, allowing tool-free strap changes. New strap colour options like vivid white and orange alongside classic black are available, with the orange strap matching the seconds hand and "TECH" inscription on the dial.
The unidirectional rotating bezel provides excellent grip even with thick diving gloves, making it a practical choice for divers. The Tech 45mm is priced at around $22,700 USD and comes in Blancpain’s reusable, water- and shock-resistant Peli™ case.
The creation of the Tech 45mm was inspired by a question posed by Marc Hayek about what the Fifty Fathoms would look like if invented today. The Tech line's first model, the Tech Gombessa, was a 47mm titanium watch designed for saturation divers with a three-hour timing system for rebreather diving.
The Tech 45mm is not a limited edition and is available now through authorized Blancpain dealers. Each purchase includes two rubber straps of the buyer's choice and Blancpain's signature water-resistant Peli case for storage and travel. Blancpain's Tech variant of the Fifty Fathoms, first introduced in 2023, has been refined into a more versatile version, acknowledging that even serious divers have lives outside of diving.
