Meta Futura Aerospace Secures $6 Million Seed Funding for Innovative Space Technology

Meta Futura Aerospace, a ground-breaking aerospace startup co-founded by Fabrizio Pisani and Pedro Rodríguez López, graduates from the University of Southampton, has secured a significant $6 million in seed funding. This investment will propel the company towards commercial viability in the aerospace sector.

The funding round was led by CDP Venture Capital SGR, and the team is currently operating from the European Space Agency Business Innovation Centre (ESA BIC) at Harwell, Oxford.

Meta Futura Aerospace's key innovation is a thrust vectoring system that enables precise avionics control without traditional aerodynamic surfaces. This technology allows spacecraft and rockets to maneuver using thrust direction, which is crucial for lightweight, efficient propulsion systems. The company plans to validate this technology through on-orbit testing, demonstrating its effectiveness in actual space environments.

Fabrizio Pisani, co-founder of Meta Futura Aerospace, expressed excitement about the seed fundraising round, stating it as a significant milestone in the company's development and a key step to market. He emphasised that the funds will be used to scale their development and prepare for these in-orbit tests.

The satellite manufacturing market is expected to be worth £44 Billion by 2030, and Meta Futura Aerospace is building a manoeuvrable and agile small satellite to tackle the problem of satellite mobility in space. This could potentially enhance satellite maneuverability and reduce dependency on heavier control surfaces, aligning with trends towards more agile and cost-effective spacecraft design.

The ESA BIC provided £51k equity free funding to Meta Futura Aerospace, and Dr. Alice Iles, Head of Tech Acceleration at the University of Southampton, praised the company, stating they are laying a strong foundation to become the 'go-to' source for their technology. Researchers or students at the University of Southampton who want to create a startup can book an informal call or meeting with the team.

Meta Futura Aerospace is actively seeking seed investors with experience in supporting space technology startups to scale. Interested investors or potential lead investors can contact the Meta Futura Aerospace team here. The emphasis remains on technological innovation and demonstration via in-orbit trials to prove their concept in operational conditions.

Currently, satellites in space cannot move freely, which is a significant problem. Meta Futura Aerospace's ground-breaking thrust vectoring technology allows satellites to perform the work of 16 thrusters with only 2, making space travel more efficient and cost-effective.

The team at Meta Futura Aerospace is preparing for their first in-orbit test of their technology, a significant step towards demonstrating the practical applications of their innovative technology. The company has already secured some investment and is particularly interested in speaking with potential lead investors.
