The automotive landscape in India is about to change with the arrival of the MG M9 EV, a luxury electric MPV that promises to redefine the segment. MG Motor India, under its premium dealership network, will retail the M9 EV alongside models like the MG Cyberster.
The M9 EV, the first product under MG's new MG Select brand, is set to hit Indian roads on August 10. With a starting price of ₹69.90 lakh (ex-showroom), this all-new luxury electric MPV will be available in three colours: Metal Black, Concrete Grey, and Pearl Lustre White.
Premium Features and Amenities
The M9 EV offers a host of premium features, including Integrated Cruise Assist, a Chamois-wrapped panoramic sunroof, and a fully loaded 'Presidential Limo' trim in India. The second row of seats is electrically adjustable with ventilation, heating, and massage functions, ensuring a comfortable ride for passengers.
Safety is paramount, and the M9 EV is equipped with seven airbags, ABS, ESP, TPMS, and a full suite of ADAS features. It also boasts a 360-degree surround-view camera and a speed assist system for added peace of mind.
Performance and Range
The M9 EV packs a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery, delivering an impressive 500 km range per charge. It supports both 11 kW AC charging and DC fast charging, making refuelling a breeze.
Rivaling Traditional Luxury MPVs
While the Kia Carnival and Toyota Vellfire are popular choices in the luxury MPV segment, they are conventional internal combustion engine vehicles. The MG M9 EV, with its electric powertrain, aims to stand out by offering a sustainable alternative while maintaining the luxury standards expected in this segment.
The M9 EV includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Lane Keep Assist. It also offers individual entertainment screens for rear-seat passengers, ensuring everyone enjoys the ride. The M9 EV is positioned as a direct rival to premium MPVs like the Toyota Vellfire and Kia Carnival, offering three rows of seating for seven occupants.
The M9 EV's cabin features a cognac brown leather and suede interior, adding to its luxurious appeal. With its electric powertrain and premium features, the M9 EV is poised to offer a unique blend of comfort, luxury, and sustainability in the luxury MPV segment.
(Note: The M9 EV has secured five-star safety ratings from Euro NCAP and ANCAP, but is yet to undergo Bharat NCAP tests.)
