Luxury car manufacturer Aston Martin gears up for a significant impact with the introduction of the new Vanquish Volante model

Luxury car manufacturer Aston Martin poised for a bigger impact with the introduction of the Vanquish Volante model.

Aston Martin has stepped into the spotlight with the unveiling of their flagship convertible model, the Vanquish Volante. This latest addition joins the ranks of luxury grand tourers, with the Ferrari 12-Cylinder Spider being a potential competitor.

The Vanquish Volante is a swansong for Aston Martin's long-running association with the V12 engine, boasting a powerful 6.0L V12 engine that produces 835PS of power and a top speed of 214mph. In contrast, Ferrari's convertible models often feature high-revving V8s or powerful V12 engines, such as the Ferrari 458 Italia Spider's 4.5L V8 producing about 562 hp.

Design-wise, the Vanquish Volante exudes elegance and British craftsmanship, with sweeping lines and a stately convertible top. Ferrari Spider models, on the other hand, favour aggressive styling and racing heritage, prioritising aerodynamic efficiency and performance aerodynamics.

Under the hood, the Vanquish Volante is tuned for a balance between grand touring comfort and sporty driving, while Ferrari Spiders lean more towards track-derived precision, lighter weight, and sharper reactive handling. Transmission-wise, the Vanquish Volante typically features automatic or automated manual transmissions with rear-wheel drive, aiming to blend luxury and performance smoothly, whereas Ferrari Spiders usually employ dual-clutch automated manual transmissions optimised for extremely fast gear shifts.

First customer deliveries of the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante are expected in Q3 2025. Despite the impending arrival of electric vehicles, geo-political shenanigans might give ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicles a little more breathing space. However, Aston Martin will find it hard to conjure up the raw magic created by the sound and feel of combustion power that Ferrari's 12-Cylinder Spider models embody.

The Vanquish Volante is the sister car to the V12-powered Vanquish, and Aston Martin is capping production at 1,000 units a year, including the coupe. The price of the Vanquish Volante is yet to be announced, but it is claimed to be the world's fastest and most powerful front-engine convertible.
