Lucasfilm Unveils Star Wars Acolyte Books and Comics at SDCC 2024
Unleashing the Written Force: When the curtains fall on your favorite Star Wars films and TV shows, jump into the galaxy's vibrant literary world! Star Wars novels, brimming with stories from different eras and written by a multitude of gifted authors, have been, and continue to be, a source of endless excitement. This was evident during the "Star Wars: Stories from a Galaxy Far, Far Away" panel at San Diego Comic-Con, where a slew of new book announcements were dropped, among other surprises.
Many of these books naturally revolve around the latest Star Wars tale we've witnessed, The Acolyte.
Kicking things off, there's Star Wars: The Acolyte Visual Guide by Pablo Hidalgo. Mark your calendars for March 4, 2025, as this guide will unveil a wealth of fascinating new characters, creatures, and technology from the series. For visual enthusiasts, The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte (Season One) by Kristin Baver, out next summer, promises a deep dive into the designs that shaped the show.
For fans of Jecki and Yord (Rest in peace), Tessa Gratton is crafting an untitled YA novel that chronicles their adventures, due for release July 29, 2025. Joining the Jedi ranks, Justina Ireland has a new novel on the horizon called Star Wars: The Acolyte: Wayseeker, delving deeper into the past of Vernestra Rwoh and Carrie-Anne Moss' Master Indara. Meanwhile, Cavan Scott is working on a new comic, Star Wars: The Acolyte - Kelnacca #1, focusing on another Jedi Master. That's set to drop September 4.
And, to add a dash of fun, the panel unveiled that Hasbro's next Acolyte Black Series toy will be none other than Vernestra Rwoh. Pre-orders kick off July 27 at 5 p.m. EST on Hasbro Pulse.
Moving past The Acolyte, other books set in the same time period, The High Republic, are also on the horizon. Cavan Scott has a new comic called Star Wars: The High Republic - Fear of the Jedi, continuing the tale of the Jedi's battle against the Nihil. This collaboration with Marika Cresta is due out in February. A second volume of The Art of Star Wars: The High Republic is also in the works, covering phases two and three of the saga. It's scheduled for release in February as well.
The next major tale gracing our homes is Star Wars Outlaws, the video game set for release in August. Following tradition, The Art of Star Wars Outlaws is on the way, landing on June 3.
While we await new shows and films, the Star Wars galaxy remains teeming with stories. Which books are you most eager to dive into?
