RIZON USA Expands into Medium-Duty Electric Truck Market

The electric vehicle (EV) industry is seeing significant growth, and one company leading the charge in the medium-duty truck segment is RIZON USA. The company, which is the authorized U.S. distributor of the RIZON Brand, a subsidiary of Daimler Truck, is making waves with its focus on all-electric Class 5 trucks.

RIZON's medium-duty offerings are spearheaded by the e18M model, a versatile truck designed for various commercial uses such as landscaping, last-mile delivery, and work applications. The e18M boasts impressive specifications, including a payload capacity of up to 10,500 lbs, a range of between 120 to 155 miles per charge, and a 5-year warranty. Moreover, the e18M is up to $35,000 cheaper than comparable gasoline trucks when factoring California EV incentives, and could potentially offer operational savings of up to $12,000 annually due to reduced fuel and maintenance expenses.

RIZON's lineup includes six customizable models, adaptable for various body options including stake bed, dry van, flatbed, dump, and refrigerated. The company's messaging emphasizes its commitment to transforming the work truck landscape city by city, school by school, business by business, indicating ongoing expansion and market penetration efforts across North America.

While there is no public detailed information about additional future models beyond the e18M or specific scale-up production plans, the presence of a dealer network and the focus on multiple use cases suggest active growth and expansion in the medium-duty electric truck segment for RIZON USA.

In other EV news, Noodoe and Emobi, two EV charging industry leaders, are partnering to develop the Plug & Charge model. This collaboration aims to provide EV drivers with a hassle-free, reliable, and consistent charging experience. The Plug & Charge solution is expected to enhance interoperability, optimize charging operations, and improve error-handling mechanisms.

Meanwhile, BMW and Toyota are pooling their innovative strength and technological capabilities to bring a new generation of fuel cell powertrain technology to the roads. BMW plans to launch its first-ever series production fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) in 2028, with the assistance of Toyota.

The battery manufacturing industry is experiencing unprecedented growth, driven by increasing demand for electric vehicles, renewable energy storage, and portable electronics. Panasonic Energy Co., Ltd. and Mazda Motor Corporation announced a partnership to prepare for the supply of next-generation cylindrical automotive lithium-ion batteries, in anticipation of their installation in Mazda's battery electric vehicles (BEVs) that are scheduled to be introduced from 2027 onwards.

As the EV industry continues to evolve, companies like RIZON USA are playing a crucial role in making electric trucks a viable and competitive option for various commercial applications. With its focus on durability, advanced safety and connectivity features, and competitive pricing, RIZON USA's medium-duty electric truck expansion is set to reshape the work truck landscape.
