Latest Drone Updates: Exploration of the Arctic with Inspire 3, Three Agricultural Drones Launched by DJI, and Other Exciting Developments!
DJI, the world's leader in civilian drones, has launched three new agriculture drones - the Agras T100, T70P, and T25P. These new drones, which are part of DJI's expanded Agras series, bring the total count to 13.
DJI Agras T100: The Powerhouse for Large-Scale Farming
The DJI Agras T100 boasts a payload capacity of up to 100 liters for spraying, 150 liters for spreading, and can lift up to 220 lbs (approx. 100 kg) for cargo/logistics. With a top speed of 44 mph (about 20 m/s), this powerhouse drone is designed for large-scale commercial operations, essentially operating like a flying tractor for extensive farms.
The T100 features a 360° obstacle avoidance system with LiDAR, millimeter-wave radar, Penta-Vision (5-eye vision), and phased array radar. It also offers real-time AR flight guidance, a smart cargo drop system, and fast 9-minute charging.
DJI Agras T70P: Balancing Payload and Safety
The DJI Agras T70P is designed for mid-sized farms, offering a payload capacity of up to 70 liters for spraying, 100 liters for spreading, or up to 65 kg for lifting. It is equipped with Safety System 3.0 including millimeter-wave radar and Tri-Vision system for obstacle detection and smarter route selection with improved clearance.
DJI Agras T25P: Compact and Automated for Small-Scale Operations
The DJI Agras T25P is a compact, foldable drone ideal for small or solo farming operations such as hillside orchards. It supports aerial mapping and plant protection with its upgraded 25 kg high-precision screw feeder spreading system 4.0 and Safety System 3.0 for obstacle detection and automated flight.
Common Features Across the Three Drones
All three drones are built for various scales of farming - from large commercial to solo growers. They focus on automation, safety, and efficiency, with enhanced obstacle avoidance systems and support for multiple agricultural applications.
DJI emphasizes these drones as advancing precision farming worldwide, improving operational efficiency, and reducing environmental impact with wider global availability through newly launched pilot training programs.
Drones in Military and Security
Meanwhile, in the military and security sectors, the Pentagon has signed a sweeping directive aiming to outpace adversaries like Russia and China in drone technology. Small drones are now treated as consumables, not traditional military assets. The goal is to field thousands of low-cost drones integrated into every aspect of military training by 2027.
The Secret Service has also overhauled its approach to aerial security, rolling out a fleet of military-grade drones and establishing mobile command posts nationwide in response to last year's assassination attempt on former President Trump. These drones are designed for real-time surveillance and threat detection, giving agents the ability to detect and take down unauthorized drones by jamming them midair.
In the U.S., DEXA, a startup led by CEO Beth Flippo, has secured all three crucial FAA approvals, positioning it as one of the very few U.S. companies legally cleared for large-scale drone delivery, although its actual delivery footprint and volume are far smaller than the established giants.
As for filmmaking, the DJI Inspire 3's dynamic range and ability to capture fine details have been showcased in a cinematic journey to the Arctic earlier this year, featuring footage captured entirely in 8K RAW.
