Lab equipment funded by an additional £1 million for a flight simulator development
In the dynamic world of medical technology, UK-based Envoke has secured an additional £1 million in funding, bringing its total investment to date to £2.5 million. This latest round of funding will enable the company to create two new jobs and further develop its innovative platform.
Founded in 2019 by Stuart Warrington, Envoke arose from his film and animation production firm. The company's platform creates a virtual model of each medical laboratory equipment and provides e-learning on medical devices. This groundbreaking technology has already found success with leading device manufacturers such as Bio-Rad, Waters Corporation, PacBio, Grifols, and the Terumo Group.
The platform is used in laboratories worldwide, including in the NHS and other health services, as well as leading universities. It enables manufacturers to offer remote support, reducing the need for site visits, and includes an AI-powered diagnosis tool for problem resolution.
The investment was made by NPIF - Mercia Equity Finance, which is managed by Mercia and is part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund. The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the European Investment Bank are also involved, demonstrating the cross-continental support for Envoke's success. Finance Yorkshire's Seedcorn Fund also contributed £500,000 to the investment.
Lizzy Upton, senior manager at the British Business Bank, expressed her support for Envoke's achievements, saying, "Envoke's innovative platform is transforming the medical technology sector, and we are delighted to see them continuing to grow and create jobs in the North of England."
Over the last three years, Finance Yorkshire supported 55 SMEs, creating and safeguarding over 700 jobs. The organisation is planning to make further investments in 2025, reflecting a robust funding environment for platform advancements in both biologic medicines and device technologies, especially with AI-driven innovation and digital health integration playing increasing roles.
This funding news comes at a time when several other medical device and biotech companies are also securing significant funding for platform development and expansion. For instance, Tempero Bio, Ampersand Biomedicines, Kestra Medical Technologies, Abridge, Truveta, and Innovaccer have all raised substantial sums, with a focus on AI integration and digital health platforms.
This robust funding environment underscores the growing importance of platform advancements in the medical technology sector, particularly those that leverage AI and digital health integration. Envoke's success is a testament to the potential of UK-based companies in this field, and we can expect to see more exciting developments in the coming months.
