Koblenz's Moselbad to Get Germany's Largest Solar-Heated Carport

Koblenz's Moselbad is set to become home to the city's most modern solar installation, a solar-heated carport. The project, funded with €1 million from the state's KIPKI program, is expected to save up to 173.2 tons of CO2 annually.

The solar carport, scheduled for completion by the end of the year, will cover 104 out of 137 parking spaces. It will feature 896 solar modules, generating an anticipated 368,569 kWh of electricity annually. This energy will be used entirely for Moselbad's own consumption.

The new parking operation is set to start in early 2026. Visitors will benefit from weather protection for their vehicles and the option to charge their electric vehicles directly on-site. The photovoltaic system will have a total capacity of around 399 kWp.

The solar-heated carport at Moselbad in Koblenz is expected to significantly reduce the facility's carbon footprint. Once operational in early 2026, it will provide practical benefits to visitors while contributing to the city's sustainability goals.
