Kia's First Electric Commercial Vehicle, PV7, Coming in 2027
Kia is set to launch its first electric commercial vehicle, the PV7, in 2027. This modular transporter is larger than the upcoming PV5 and is designed to cater to various uses, from a standard box van to a camper or pickup truck.
The PV7, based on the new E-GMP.S platform, offers ample space with dimensions of 5,270 mm in length, 2,065 mm in width, and 2,120 mm in height. It is a size class above the PV5, which will be the first model of Kia's new E-transporter family, available in Germany from November.
Kia is exploring innovative attachment methods for the PV7's modular structure. The company is testing the use of magnets, supplemented by mechanical fasteners, to securely attach interchangeable bodies. This allows for quick swapping of modules, adapting the vehicle to different needs.
The PV7 is part of Kia's new PV series, designed for modular applications and primarily intended for the Korean home market and Europe. Despite the challenge of differing vehicle approval regulations across markets, Kia is committed to making the PV7 a versatile and adaptable electric commercial vehicle.
