Kazakhstan's Samruk-Kazyna Welcomes AI Board Member SKAI

Kazakhstan has made a significant stride in digital governance with the introduction of Samruk-Kazyna Gemini AI Neural Network (SKAI). This AI-powered entity, presented to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, is the first of its kind in the region to hold a Board of Directors seat with voting rights.

SKAI, led by Dr. Sergiu Mangalagiu, is designed to enhance transparency and decision-making quality within Samruk-Kazyna. It processes and analyzes regulations, Board decisions, and corporate records to provide insights and recommendations. The platform will undergo its first test at the Fund's next Board meeting, marking the beginning of its integration into governance practices.

SKAI is built on the Kazakh-language Alem LLM model, demonstrating the Fund's commitment to developing domestic AI capabilities. It combines human decision-making with artificial intelligence, marking a breakthrough in corporate governance. The platform operates on the AlFarabium-2 supercomputer, part of Kazakhtelecom, ensuring data security and sovereignty. SKAI's high computing power is based on NVIDIA's H200 processors, providing speed and reliability.

SKAI's integration into Samruk-Kazyna's Board of Directors is a pioneering step in digital governance. It is expected to improve decision-making processes, enhance transparency, and foster the development of domestic AI capabilities. The successful implementation of SKAI could pave the way for similar AI integrations in corporate governance across the region.
