In a strategic move to consolidate and expand its capabilities within the circular economy, Summa Equity has announced a partnership with Schulz & Berger Luft- und Verfahrenstechnik (S&B), a German company specializing in air sorting and dedusting systems. This partnership also includes Bollegraaf & Lubo Recycling Solutions, a leading Dutch company providing turnkey recycling and sorting systems across Europe and North America.

The new partnership forms an integrated platform within Summa Equity's holding company, Global Circular Solutions, which was established last year to house investments in the circular economy sector. With this acquisition, S&B becomes a sister company to Bollegraaf.

The complementary capabilities of Bollegraaf and S&B are expected to strengthen Summa Equity's position in waste sorting and recycling innovation. Bollegraaf specializes in designing and manufacturing recycling and sorting systems, while S&B focuses on air technology such as air classifiers for waste separation, dust extraction, activated carbon filters, and ventilation systems tailored for composting and waste management plants.

By combining their product ranges and geographic strengths, they aim to expand geographic reach, enhance product offerings, and accelerate growth in waste sorting and recycling innovation. S&B, with its strong presence in the DACH region, and Bollegraaf in broader European and North American markets, will create significant industrial synergies and a stronger market position for Summa Equity's investment portfolio in the circular economy.

As a product-oriented company, S&B is not restricted to servicing Bollegraaf and can sell its products to competitors as well. S&B employs 160 full-time staff across its sites and affiliated entities and generated €30m in revenue in 2024.

This investment is part of Summa Equity's focus on the circular economy, which also includes themes like sustainable food, energy transition, and tech-enabled resilience. S&B, alongside Bollegraaf, will contribute to this focus by offering innovative solutions in waste management and recycling technology.

In summary, Summa Equity’s strategic partnership merges Bollegraaf’s turnkey recycling solutions with S&B’s air technology expertise, forming an integrated platform within Global Circular Solutions to advance innovation and growth in the waste management and recycling industry. Dust extraction systems, air classifiers, and ventilation systems developed by S&B will play a crucial role in minimizing health risks, machine wear and tear, and environmental impacts across various industries.
