Investigation into the Indian Smartphone Market during Q2 of 2025

In a significant development, Vivo has emerged as the leading smartphone brand in India's Q2 2025 market, shipping 8.1 million units and capturing a 21% market share [1][3]. The company's success can be attributed to aggressive marketing strategies, strong retail presence, and popular wedding season campaigns [1].

Samsung followed closely in second place, shipping 6.2 million units and holding a 16% market share [1]. The South Korean giant boosted its sales by offering financing deals on its A-series models, such as the A36 and A56, with long-term EMI options [1].

Oppo and Xiaomi rounded out the top three, each shipping around 5 million units [1]. Oppo saw a rise in its position, jumping to third place, while Xiaomi experienced a 25% decline year-over-year [1].

Apple ranked sixth, with the iPhone 16 series accounting for over half of its shipments [1]. However, the iPhone 16e failed to impress due to its single camera and lacklustre "Apple Intelligence" features [1].

Realme, in fifth place, shipped 3.6 million units but saw a 17% decline [1]. Despite this, the brand gained ground in physical stores with the C-series, which accounted for over a third of its total shipments [1].

Motorola expanded beyond cities, pushing into retail, while Infinix, an emerging brand, showed notable growth and traction in the market, targeting niche segments and young consumers [1][3].

The Indian smartphone market rebounded strongly in Q2 2025, increasing by 7% year-over-year with 39 million units shipped [1][4]. The growth was aided by new product launches, easing inventory issues, and financing options enhancing demand [1][3].

However, analysts predict a slight full-year dip in the smartphone market due to ongoing demand challenges [1]. Despite this, the market is expected to receive short-term boosts from festive season sales campaigns [1][3].
