New WattBox IP Controllable Power Distribution Units Unveiled by Snap One

Snap One has launched a new series of power distribution units (PDUs) designed for high-power environments, the 820 Series WattBox IP controllable PDUs. These units are ideal for AV and security installations that require network-controllable power management.

The 820 Series PDUs, designed for 20-amp systems, are built to deliver reliability and functionality that WattBox users have come to expect. Key features include:

  • 20-amp capacity per unit, suitable for high-power AV and security equipment.
  • Network controllability via IP, enabling remote power cycling, scheduling, and monitoring of individual outlets.
  • Support for distributed power management, which helps reduce downtime and energy use.
  • Integration compatibility with Snap One’s ecosystem for centralized control and monitoring.
  • Multiple individually controllable outlets with surge protection, ensuring safety and preventing damage to connected devices.
  • Robust build quality designed for commercial AV and security spaces.

The 820 Series PDUs typically feature modern IP control protocols for easy integration into system management platforms, making them useful in scalable security and AV deployments.

The first two models available in the 820 Series are the WB-820-IPVM-12 and WB-820CH1U-IPVM-8, featuring 12 and 8 individually controlled and metered outlets respectively. These models come with built-in surge protection and power conditioning.

The 820 Series PDUs can be paired with an optional WattBox Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) for back-up power during electrical outages. They also integrate OvrC, which provides deep system insight and allows detecting underperforming devices and quick resolution of simple issues.

OvrC allows setting threshold ranges for voltage, power, and current, and sends notifications when a device falls out of range. The client-facing OvrC Connect app provides end-users insight into their systems.

The 820 Series PDUs are designed with strategically placed outlets and various orientations for installation flexibility. WattBox will follow this initial release with a 2-outlet version.

These new PDUs retain many features from the original 15-amp 800 Series, including OvrC remote monitoring and resolution, self-healing auto reboot, and control, scheduling, and metering of individual outlets. The 820 Series PDUs are compatible with leading control platforms including Control4, Crestron, Elan, RTI, and URC.

For exact technical specs such as number of outlets, surge protection rating, dimensions, or supported communication protocols, referring to Snap One's official product documentation or contacting their sales/support would provide complete data.

The new WattBox IP controllable PDUs, launched by Snap One, come with network controllability via IP for remote power management of individual outlets, which makes them valuable for data-and-cloud-computing applications in technology-centered environments. These units also feature surplus outlets, perfect for powering high-power gadgets and products within the AV and security installations.
