Interactive, tape-measure-like device, Setime Clock Concept, turns time into a tactile experience
In the world of technology, where time is often measured in digital clicks and taps, one innovative concept is shaking up the status quo - Setime. Currently in the prototype development stage, Setime is a unique device that aims to make time tangible, turning invisible forces into something we can touch and feel.
Designed by Geonwoo Kang, Setime is a harmonious blend of a timer and a measuring tape, encapsulated in a minimalist design that fits comfortably into modern homes. The device's design embodies minimalism, making it an unobtrusive addition to any living space.
Setting a timer with Setime is a deliberate, physical act, a stark contrast to the quick tap on a smartphone screen. Users can set the duration by physically extending the measuring tape to their desired length. For instance, pulling out ten centimeters of the tape might result in five minutes.
The digital display shows exactly how much time has been captured, while a gentle LED glows to show time flowing away during the countdown. When time expires, the LED turns off and the device powers down, signalling the end of the timed period.
The emotional impact of Setime encourages users to think more intentionally about how they spend their hours and minutes. The tactile engagement provided by Setime could help people develop better time awareness and reduce digital overwhelm.
The growing movement toward making digital experiences more human and tactile is highlighted by concepts like Setime. By opening up new possibilities for reimagining how we interact with abstract concepts, Setime represents a growing movement toward making digital experiences more human and tactile.
In Setime's Timer mode, users can start the timer by pressing the side button after setting the duration and pulling the tape. The device has a front slider that can be switched to Timer mode, making it easy to switch between the two functions.
As Setime moves from the prototype stage towards production, it promises to change the way we perceive and interact with time, fostering a more mindful relationship with duration.
