The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, Xpeng Motors, has recently unveiled its third car, the P5. This new addition to the market boasts a variety of innovative features that set it apart from its competitors.
The P5 sports a grill-less front face, extending headlights with LEDs, and an active air intake flap. The taillights follow an extending pattern similar to the headlights, giving the P5 a unique and modern look. The side of the P5 features a smooth and simple design with a black bottom trim that increases in height towards the rear.
The P5 is integrated with the latest XPILOT 3.5 Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS) and a twin LIDAR system, making it the world's first mass-produced EV equipped with lidar. Only the two highest variants (600P and 550P) of the P5 are equipped with lidar, while the lower variants (460E, 460G, 550G, and 550P) do not have this feature.
The P5 comes in six variants, each with its own unique price point. The most affordable variant, the 460E, is priced at 177,900 yuan ($27,600), while the highest-end 600P variant retails for 223,900 yuan ($34,000). The 550G and 550P variants are priced at 172,900 yuan ($26,900) and 199,900 yuan ($31,000) respectively. The largest 71.4kWh battery pack is dedicated only to the Xpeng P5 600P.
Automotive veteran Lei Xing has mentioned that the Xpeng P5 has the potential to sell 10k units per month. Xpeng will start deliveries of the P5 in late October.
The interior of the P5 resembles the Tesla Model S, featuring a vertical touch screen and instrument gauge screen. The P5 has a wheelbase of 2768mm, length of 4808 mm, width of 1840mm, and height of 1530mm.
With its innovative features, modern design, and affordable price points, the Xpeng P5 is poised to make a significant impact in the EV market. As Xpeng continues to grow, with Deutsche Bank forecasting the company to deliver 134,000 vehicles in Q3 and 149,000 in Q4 of 2025, targeting a full-year volume of 480,000 units—a 153% year-on-year increase—the future looks bright for this up-and-coming EV manufacturer.
The Xpeng P5, equipped with the latest technology and innovative features, such as a twin LIDAR system and the XPILOT 3.5 Advanced Driver-Assistance System, offers an electric-vehicle lifestyle that rivals leading brands like Tesla. With its competitive pricing, starting from $27,600 for the 460E variant, the P5 positions itself as an attractive option for car enthusiasts looking to transition to electric-vehicles.
