RWMIAMI-WPLG Slaps Down Four Hottie Ikegami HDK-X500 Camera Systems

Catch the action at WPLG, the Berkshire Hathaway-owned station that's taking broadcasting to the next level! They've just nabbed themselves four sizzling Ikegami HDK-X500 camera systems, complete with a BSX-1000 base station and a head-turning OCP-300 operating control panel, all set up in their slick new production studio up north.

"Ikegami cameras have been our bread and butter since we jumped the ship from analog to digital and SD to HD," said WPLG's director of engineering, Darren Alline. "Snagging the HDK-X500 models gives us a massive upgrade, including the ability to eliminate pesky moiré on LED walls and to capture high-dynamic-range content like a boss," he added.

These bad boys produce a variety of local news, weather reports, and sports coverage, on-air and online. High signal quality, versatility, ease of operation, and a lifetime worth of reliability are a must for this kind of action, accompanied by Ikegami's legendary post-sale support.

The HDK-X500 rocks three 2/3-inch CMOS sensors with a global shutter pixel architecture, allowing it to take sharp snaps even in challenging conditions. It can even replay still images from fast-moving objects without a hint of distortion, and it doesn't flash out under strobe lights or still cameras either. (Bonus points for that!)

The camera even settles pesky vignetting issues with automatic optical correction for OVC-compatible B4 bayonet mount zoom lenses and backs focus adjustments for RBF-compatible lenses, both locally and remotely. Optimal control of your lighting game, be it studio or outdoor, is covered by a neutral-density and color-compensation dual filter system.

What makes this camera truly remarkable is its 16-axis color correction, which offers precise scene matching, and the ability to create jaw-dropping special effects – yes, we're talking magic here, folks! HLG high-dynamic- range is supported, too, so get ready for incredible detail in everything from bright highlights to deep shadows.

The HDK-X500 doesn't disappoint in the performance department, delivering 1000 TVL resolution, a 62dB typical signal-to-noise ratio, and F11 sensitivity. Oh, and it's also capable of 2x high-frame-rate capture. The cherry on top? You can grab the camera and go without a tripod, thanks to its lightweight design.

The BSX-100 rides shotgun with the HDK-X500, housing a 3G fiber base station in a stylish 3U high half-rack-width low-mass unit. Broadcasters and production companies can stride confidently toward a coherent upgrade path, moving effortlessly from SDI to IP, from standard to high-dynamic-range, and from HD to HD/4K dual-format workflows.

In the standard edition, the base station provides 3G-SDI/HD-SDI HD output. Upgrade to an optional 4K output software key to create mind-blowing visuals with your HD cameras, even in mixed HD and 4K resolutions. The unit is also compatible with 12G-SDI/3G-SDI quad link interfaces, making it a cinch to integrate 3G camera systems into 4K environments without breaking the bank.

The OCP-300 control panel is a versatile addition, supporting one-by-one ICCP (RS-422) control, Arcnet-based control, and Ethernet-based control for optimal functioning.
