Hyundai's New Michigan Lab Uses Advanced Nikon X-ray CT for Top-Quality Vehicle Components

Hyundai Motor North America has equipped its new Safety Test and Investigation Laboratory (STIL) in Michigan with Nikon's advanced auto X-ray computed tomography (CT) system. The $51.4 million facility uses this cutting-edge technology to inspect components nondestructively, ensuring top-notch quality and safety in Hyundai's vehicles.

The X-ray CT system, purchased and installed by Hyundai, offers a large scanning volume and multi-source flexibility. It enables the inspection of various components, such as air bag inflators, lock mechanisms, seat switches, struts, impellers, and additive parts. This comprehensive approach ensures the functionality and reliability of these components in Hyundai's award-winning automobiles.

The system's dual-detector functionality and extensive enhancements provide high-quality results. It can handle demanding inspection tasks, thanks to its multi-tube, multi-detector configuration. This flexibility allows Hyundai to inspect components efficiently and accurately, without causing damage to them.

The advanced auto Nikon X-ray CT system provides Hyundai with detailed data points quickly. This speedy analysis would otherwise take weeks using traditional methods. The collaboration between Nikon Metrology and Hyundai Motor North America reflects their shared commitment to world-class engineering and manufacturing.

Hyundai's use of Nikon's X-ray CT system at its STIL facility ensures the quality and safety of its vehicle components. The system's large scanning volume, multi-source flexibility, and dual-detector functionality enable fast, efficient, and accurate nondestructive measurement. This investment in advanced auto parts demonstrates Hyundai's dedication to producing top-quality, reliable automobiles.
