Hunter Douglas enhances PowerView compatibility with Matter technology integration.
In a significant move towards enhancing smart home compatibility, Hunter Douglas has integrated Matter, an open-standard for smart home connectivity, into their PowerView Gen 3 Automation platform. This update aims to expand the control of PowerView shades across various popular smart home systems, providing users with a more seamless experience.
The Matter integration is seamlessly built into the PowerView experience, allowing users to control their shades through Apple Home, Google Home, and other Matter-compatible controllers/apps. To enjoy this new feature, users need to ensure their PowerView App is updated to version 3.12.1 or later, and their PowerView Gateway or Gateway Pro runs firmware version 3.2.46 or later. These devices now act as Matter bridges, enabling Matter protocol communication.
Importantly, no new hardware for the shades themselves is required; all existing PowerView Gen 3 shades are supported by this integration via the updated gateway firmware and app. This means the integration is primarily software and firmware based, expanding compatibility to popular Matter ecosystems for cross-platform smart home control of the shades.

To help users optimise voice control, Hunter Douglas has created a guide with best practices for naming and optimising the enhanced functionality offered by their shades.
With this integration, PowerView customers can look forward to a simple setup, seamless control, and long-term flexibility. All advanced PowerView-compatible shades, such as Top-Down Bottom-Up, Duolite, Pirouette A Deux, and Aura Illuminated shades, are fully supported by the new Matter integration.
