Homecoming greeting: A Highly Individuated Communication from Mira Wölfel

Prolight + Sound 2022, scheduled to take place in Frankfurt am Main, Germany at the end of April, is set to be a significant event for the entertainment industry. This year's edition promises a reunion with the industry, expansions of the product range, and innovations, all with a strong focus on sustainability and a greener future.

Mira Wölfel, the Director of Prolight + Sound, will oversee the event. The event will be spread across several thematic segments, each showcasing different aspects of live entertainment technologies.

The Thematic Segments

The ProLight segment, located in Halls 12.0 and 12.1, will focus on theatre and stage technology. Meanwhile, the ProAudio segment, situated in Halls 11.0 and 11.1, will highlight audio solutions, including new lighting fixtures and control technology focusing on performance and energy efficiency. The ProMedia segment, also in Hall 11.1, will feature individually bookable rooms for product presentations in the Studio Lab.

The ProStage segment will be located in Hall 12.0, while the ProEvent segment will be spread across Halls 12.0/12.1 and the outdoor area. A new feature, the Production + Performance Hub, will offer an interactive Experience Zone for audio production, DJing, and digital live performance.

Innovations and Sustainability

Innovations will be a key highlight at Prolight + Sound 2022. Across all segments, visitors can expect to see advancements in lighting systems, control consoles, and immersive technology, reflecting the industry's strides in production quality and efficiency.

Sustainability, however, is the central theme this year. The event industry is looking towards eco-friendly technologies and practices to reduce its environmental impact. This includes greener production techniques and sustainable materials in event technologies, signalling a collective effort towards environmental responsibility within the industry.

A Green Future

The Green Event Day, scheduled for 27 April, will highlight green initiatives in the industry, emphasising that sustainability can also have economic benefits. Companies and associations will present their green initiatives on the "Main Stage" in Hall 11.1 during the Green Event Day.

The theatre and stage technology area remains a mainstay and will have a specialized programme of lectures on the Theater + Light Stage in Hall 12.0. A central theme at Prolight + Sound 2022 is a greener future in the event industry, with a focus on responsible use of natural resources.

In addition to being a platform for networking and showcasing technical advancements, Prolight + Sound 2022 will also serve as a forum for engaging with sustainable development in live events. The Sound Experience Hub, a new feature, will allow audio brands to present their indoor sound reinforcement solutions under real conditions, further emphasising the event's commitment to sustainability.
