Hollow Knight: Silksong set for play at Gamescom, joining major titles showcasing at Xbox display
Gamescom 2025: A Glimpse into the Future of Gaming
This year's Gamescom, Europe's largest gaming event, promises an exciting lineup of upcoming games from Xbox and its third-party partners. Among the games playable at the show are The Outer Worlds 2, Borderlands 4, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Final Fantasy XVI, and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. However, the playability status of Hollow Knight: Silksong remains unclear.
One of the most anticipated games currently, Hollow Knight: Silksong, will be playable at the Xbox booth during Gamescom. Fans have been eagerly awaiting news about the game since its first reveal in 2019, and the 2025 release window was reconfirmed during the Gamescom Opening Night Live broadcast hosted by Geoff Keighley.
Despite speculation, no exact release date was announced at Gamescom 2025. Instead, Team Cherry scheduled a "Special Announcement" livestream for August 21, 2025, which is expected to potentially reveal more information, including possibly the release date.
In addition to Hollow Knight: Silksong, Xbox's Gamescom lineup includes Grounded 2, Ninja Gaiden 4, Indiana Jones and The Great Circle: The Order of Giants DLC, Age of Empires, Age of Mythology: Retold, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which will have a full reveal at Gamescom.
Xbox is also promising "a couple more surprises" from its partners at the show. Another exciting feature at the Xbox booth will be the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, with a first public opportunity to go hands-on with them.
World of Warcraft will also have a big presence at Gamescom, with its next expansion, Midnight, set to be revealed at the event.
Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable on PC and the Xbox ROG Ally X handheld at Gamescom. Both Xbox and Nintendo have reminded fans that Hollow Knight: Silksong is planned for their platforms.
