Hesse's Minister Backs US 'Hessendata' for Crime Fighting, Calls for European Alternatives
Hesse's Minister of the Interior, Roman Poseck, has expressed his support for the use of the US-developed Gotham platform, 'Hessendata', by Hessian police. The software, created by Palantir, is also in use in Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, and soon in Baden-Württemberg. Poseck believes it has been instrumental in preventing terror attacks and solving crimes.
Palantir's software, adapted as 'Hessendata' in Hesse and 'VeRA' in Bavaria, is used for data recognition and analysis by police in several German states. Poseck is confident that European alternatives will be available soon, but currently, there's no comparable offer from a German or European provider. He argues that stopping the use of 'Hessendata' would create a security gap.
Poseck favors a nationwide solution and wants the federal government to adopt similar data analysis software. He acknowledges Europe's dependence on the US in digital technology and supports efforts to increase European autonomy in the field. He believes the IT industry should develop European alternatives, with the state providing impetus and support.
Palantir's software, 'Hessendata', is credited with helping prevent a terror attack and solve and prevent bank robberies, including cases involving the Prince Reuß group. Poseck believes it is currently the best data analysis software available. While he supports the development of European alternatives, he emphasizes the need for a nationwide solution to maintain current security levels.
