Linking MTN MoMo Accounts to Bank Accounts in Ghana Made Easy

In Ghana, linking your MTN MoMo account to a bank account has become a convenient way to manage your finances more efficiently. With this link, you can easily transfer funds between your mobile wallet and bank account, pay bills, and access digital financial services.

There are three main methods to link your mobile money account (such as MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, or AirtelTigo Money) to your bank account:

  1. USSD Codes

Many banks and mobile network operators provide USSD shortcodes to link your mobile money wallet to your bank account or to register your bank account details with your mobile money service. For example, to link your MTN MoMo account, you can dial a USSD code provided by your bank or MTN (such as 170#, 182#, or *120#). These codes vary by bank and operator. After dialing the code, select an option like “Link bank account” or “Register bank account”, enter your bank account number and any other requested details, and confirm your identity with your PIN or OTP.

  1. Bank Mobile or Internet Banking App

Many Ghanaian banks offer mobile apps that facilitate linking your mobile money wallets to your bank accounts. To link your MTN MoMo account, open your bank’s mobile app, log in, navigate to options like “Mobile Money Services” or “Link Mobile Money”, choose your mobile money provider, enter your mobile money number, and follow prompts to authorize the link. You may receive an OTP on your mobile money number or phone to confirm.

  1. At a Bank Branch

You can also physically visit a bank branch to request linking your mobile money wallet to your bank account. Bring your valid ID (passport, Ghana Card), mobile phone, and mobile money wallet details. Request the bank officer for mobile money wallet linkage to your bank account, and they will assist in setting up the linkage. You might be required to fill a form or sign an agreement depending on the bank’s policy.

For more specific USSD codes or bank app instructions, please specify your bank or mobile network operator.

To complete the USSD linking process, enter your bank account number. If you choose to link your MTN MoMo account via USSD, dial *170#. It is also possible to link an MTN MoMo account to a bank account through the banking app, following the instructions provided by the bank.

When using USSD or linking through a bank app, always ensure to guard your PINs and OTPs to avoid fraud.

By linking your MTN MoMo account to a bank account, you can reduce your reliance on cash and queues, making financial transactions more manageable and efficient.

With the link between MTN MoMo and bank accounts, leveraging advanced technology, you can now transfer funds from your mobile wallet to your bank account and vice versa with ease. This tech-driven approach also allows you to pay bills and access digital financial services directly through your business accounts.

Linking mobile money accounts such as MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, or AirtelTigo Money to your bank account, using USSD codes, bank mobile apps, or visiting a bank branch, provides an efficient way to manage your finances in the realm of technology-driven business.
