AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT: A High-Performance Graphics Card with a High Price Tag

The AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT, a high-performance graphics card released in 2025, is currently available but priced higher than its original MSRP of $599. As of October 2025, the card can be found on retailers like Amazon for around $720 to $820, with the cheapest option from Asus priced at $670, which is $120 more than the MSRP.

In terms of performance, the RX 9070 XT delivers comparable results to the Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti, but at a lower price point. However, it's worth noting that the RTX 5070 Ti offers slightly better performance and superior ray tracing capabilities, and can be found for $790 on Amazon, just $40 above its MSRP.

For those looking for last-gen options, it is recommended to consider the second-hand market due to the high prices and worse ray tracing performance of cards like the RX 7800 XT, RX 7900 XT or GRE, and the RX 7900 XTX.

The AMD RX 9060 XT 16GB is another option, but it is advisable to buy the 16GB version and not the one with 8GB of VRAM. On the other hand, the Intel Arc B580 can be considered as a budget option.

In ray tracing benchmarks, the Radeon RX 9070 XT outperforms the previous-gen flagship, the RX 7900 XTX. The card also performs well in both rasterization and ray tracing benchmarks, nearly catching up to the RTX 5080 when overclocked.

However, the high price of the Radeon RX 9070 XT has caused some issues for its success. Some users have expressed concerns about the cost, with the non-XT version of the Radeon RX 9070 launched by AMD at a more affordable $549.

Despite these concerns, the Radeon RX 9070 XT is considered an upper-midrange graphics card rather than a true mainstream card. With the impending end of Windows 10 support in October 2025, anticipated depletion of pre-tariff component stockpiles, and potential price hikes for GPUs in the latter half of 2025, it may be economical to buy the RX 9070 XT now, as prices are expected to rise after October 2025.

A Sapphire RX 9060 XT 16GB can be found for a more budget-friendly $380, making it an attractive alternative for those seeking a high-performance graphics card without breaking the bank.

  1. The AMD RX 9070 XT, despite being a high-performance graphics card, shares the market with other gadgets that offer competitive performance, such as the Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti and second-hand options like the RX 7800 XT, RX 7900 XT or GRE, and the RX 7900 XTX.
  2. While the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT is considered an upper-midrange graphics card, budget-conscious consumers might find alternative gadgets with technology that still delivers high performance, like the Sapphire RX 9060 XT 16GB, available for a more budget-friendly $380.
