Global Underwriting Reveals Important Personnel Appointments

Globe Underwriting, a UK-based managing general agent, is making waves in the insurance industry with its strategic expansion into the financial lines market. The company's entry into the professional indemnity (PI) market is a significant step in its goal to broaden its underwriting portfolio beyond its established niche lines.

This expansion strategy is evident in two key recent developments: strategic appointments and the launch of a PI proposition.

Strategic Appointments

Globe has appointed Paul Nolan as Head of Financial Lines and Kiran Wignall as Underwriting Manager for Professional Indemnity. Nolan, with over 20 years of underwriting experience in the London market, will oversee underwriting strategy and portfolio development across PI, management liability, and financial institutions. Wignall, with 12 years of specialist underwriting experience, will manage the underwriting strategy, growth, and profitability of the PI book, while also supporting recruitment and team development as Globe scales up in this segment.

Launch of a PI Proposition

Simultaneously, Globe has launched its first professional indemnity offering, marking the formal start of its financial lines division. This proposition began capacity deployment as of July 2025, signaling Globe’s direct pursuit of growth in the £3.3 billion annual professional indemnity market.

This move reflects Globe’s commitment to expand its underwriting capabilities and capture market share in financial lines through focused hiring and product launching during a dynamic growth phase.

Other Developments

Elsewhere in the industry, Pen Underwriting has expanded its partnership with global (re)insurer SiriusPoint for international PI risks. SiriusPoint will provide 100% capacity for Pen’s international PI portfolio.

In another notable appointment, Laura Mullaney has been appointed as the Managing Director of Distribution at BGLi, a leading digital distributor of insurance and household financial services.

These developments underscore the ongoing dynamism and growth in the insurance industry, with companies continually adapting and expanding to meet the evolving needs of their clients.
