Glasgow Secures £2.33m for Tech, Green, and Community Boost

Glasgow City Council has secured £2.33m from the UK government's Shared Prosperity Fund to boost local tech, green sectors, and communities. The funding will support six new projects, repair the tech ecosystem, and aid the transition to a Net Zero city.

Cllr Susan Aitken, Glasgow's leader, announced that the funding will support tech and green businesses, involve local communities, and promote a Net Zero economy. The projects, approved by the council, will receive £1.78m from the UKSPF and be delivered locally.

The funding includes £150,000 for Tech Community Support to repair the fractured tech ecosystem and attract investment through new events and online tools. Ecosystem Growth funding of £600,000 will support tech SMEs through grants and help partners develop and accelerate projects. Digital Development Grants of £125,000 will help more businesses access the Digital Boost programme and further support.

A further £500,000 will boost the Business Start-Up service, focusing on growing social enterprises and supporting deprived communities. £305,000 will aid the development of Glasgow's Climate Investment Pipeline, including Greenprint for Investment projects. The Communities Mobilisation Programme will receive £100,000 to encourage the transition to the green economy through arts and cultural activities.

Glasgow City Council's £2.33m investment from the UKSPF aims to support local tech and green businesses, foster community involvement, and accelerate the city's transition to a Net Zero economy. The six approved projects are set to boost the local economy and environment.
