Germany Warns: Avoid High-Wattage Appliances on Power Strips, Extension Cords
German electrical safety guidelines advise against connecting certain appliances to power distributors or extension cables. This is due to significant fire risks and potential electrical overloads. Proper installation and direct connection to approved outlets are crucial for safety.
Power strips, designed for 3000 to 3500 watts, can overheat if too many high-power devices are plugged in. For devices exceeding 1500 watts, a permanently installed outlet is recommended. Appliances like washing machines, dryers, fridges, heating fans, electric heaters, dishwashers, coffee makers, microwaves, kettles, and air fryers should not be connected to power strips or extension cords to avoid danger.
Connecting multiple extension cords or power strips in series is also prohibited to prevent overload and potential fire hazards.
In Germany, ensure electrical safety by following guidelines: do not connect high-wattage appliances to power distributors or extension cables, use power strips wisely, and avoid daisy-chaining extension cords or power strips.
