Geely EX5 Scores Five-Star Safety Rating, ADAS Excellence in NZ
The all-electric Geely EX5 has made a strong impression in the New Zealand market, securing a five-star safety rating from ANCAP. This places it among the safest midsize electric SUVs available.
The EX5, built on the new GEA architecture and powered by a 60kWh LFP battery, offers impressive safety features. It achieved high ratings for Adult Occupant Protection (86%) and Child Occupant Protection (87%). The vehicle's structure performed consistently under severe test conditions, despite some minor weld detachment in the frontal offset test. The EX5's Level 2 ADAS, including car-to-motorcycle crash avoidance and lane support systems, received 'Good' ratings in active safety assessments. The EX5 enters a competitive market, with models like the BYD Atto 3 and Leapmotor C10, priced at $51,990.
The Geely EX5's five-star safety rating and comprehensive ADAS features make it a serious contender in the mainstream EV news. Despite being a new entrant, it has proven itself as a safe and reliable option in the crowded midsize EV-SUV segment.
