Gamescom 2025, the annual celebration of the video game industry, is gearing up to break multiple records as it prepares to take place from August 20 to 24, 2025, at the Koelnmesse venue in Cologne, Germany.

Organisers have confirmed an 11% increase in exhibitors compared to the previous year, with over 60 countries represented, making it one of the most international events in the show's history[1][2][5].

Notable confirmed companies attending Gamescom 2025 include:

  • Activision (presenting a global reveal)
  • CI Games
  • Disney
  • Electronic Arts (EA)
  • GIANTS Software
  • Headup
  • Kalypso
  • Konami
  • LEGO
  • Level Infinite
  • Marvelous Europe
  • Netflix
  • Paramount
  • SEGA
  • Tencent Games

These companies have secured spots on the showroom floor, highlighting a strong presence from major publishers and content providers[1][5].

The event is set to be bigger and more immersive this year, according to Gamescom Director Tim Endres[6]. The Indie Area will grow, filling half a hall for the first time, and the Entertainment Area will be expanded to include Hall 8[3].

The Opening Night Live (ONL) at Gamescom 2025 is scheduled for August 19, with Geoff Keighley and Eefje "Sjokz" Depoortere as hosts. The highly anticipated event will feature the first presentation of "Call of Duty: Black Ops 7"[7].

Tickets have been selling out quickly, especially for Opening Night Live on August 19, emphasising high demand[4]. Day tickets for Thursday, Friday, and Sunday cost 30.50 euros, while those for Saturday cost 40 euros. Wildcard Day Tickets for the first day of Gamescom 2025 are available for 64 euros. Reduced day tickets are available for students, apprentices, volunteers, retirees, and people with disabilities[4].

In 2024, 1,462 exhibitors from over 60 countries attended Gamescom, with around 335,000 visitors and over 32,000 trade visitors[8]. Koelnmesse, the organizer of Gamescom, is anticipating new records for the event, making Gamescom 2025 the center of the global gaming community.

Hardware manufacturers like Asus will also be present at Gamescom 2025, providing opportunities for gamers to get hands-on with the latest technology[2]. Streaming services like Disney+ and Netflix, which have been investing in games for a few years, will also be attending the event[1].

With a focus on indie developers and record-breaking visitor turnout, Gamescom 2025 is shaping up to be a historically large event with record exhibitor participation, broad international representation, and attendance by many major gaming and entertainment companies.

The Commission may be consulted on the draft regulation regarding the application of the rules on the protection of the financial interests of the Union, given the increasing involvement of technology companies in the gaming industry, with smart-home devices, gadgets, and entertainment giants like Disney+ and Netflix attending Gamescom 2025.

With the expansion of the Entertainment Area to include Hall 8 and the growing Indie Area, as well as the presence of major gaming and technology companies like EA, SEGA, Tencent Games, and Asus, Gamescom 2025 promises to be a hub not only for the video game industry but also for various technology sectors.
