Galaxy's S25 has received the fourth beta update of One UI 8, with hopes that this update marks the final version.
The much-anticipated stable release of One UI 8 for Samsung's Galaxy S25 series is set to begin in mid-August 2025. Following the official launch of the One UI 8 beta program for the Galaxy S25 lineup on May 28, 2025, the update was unveiled early at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9, 2025. However, the stable rollout for the S25 series is planned for mid-August, following additional beta testing phases.
While the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 models ship with One UI 8 out of the box, the Galaxy S25 models have experienced delays with the beta testing extending into late July. A fourth beta update is anticipated in early August before the stable rollout. After the S25 series receives One UI 8, other devices like the Galaxy S24, S23, and older foldables are expected to start receiving the update later in August 2025.
Here's a summary of the expected stable One UI 8 release for various devices:
- Galaxy Z Fold 7/Flip 7: Already available
- Galaxy S25 series: Mid-August 2025
- Galaxy S24, S23, older foldables: Late August 2025 (phased rollout)
This schedule signifies a slight delay from Samsung’s past early launches, with the Galaxy S25 series stable update following a few weeks after the initial One UI 8 unveiling.
In the meantime, Samsung has been addressing various issues in the One UI 8 beta. For instance, a solution for the flickering issue on the horizontal/vertical leveling icon when switching between the front and rear cameras in the Galaxy S25 series' camera has been included. Additionally, the One UI 8 Beta 4 update provides full-screen support for videos when switching using Samsung DeX, and resolves the issue of the fingerprint sensor not responding, which was previously displayed over the lock screen.
Furthermore, the update brings support for high quality voice, video, and enhanced chat services in the Samsung IMS Service Emergency feature. Updates to Home Up allow users to change how apps start up, and the Good Lock module toolkit was updated last week to align with One UI 8.
It's worth noting that the update is based on Android 16, and the One UI 8 beta started in May, preceding the official launch of Android 16. MultiStar, NavStar, and QuickStar modules have moved into a more One UI 8-ready state, although no specific date for the August launch of Samsung's Android 16 update has been confirmed yet.
Compared to previous versions, the update seems light on new features. However, Samsung has been preparing other areas of its software ecosystem for One UI 8's stable launch. For example, the update includes a fix for a bug users encountered with outgoing calls via Swipe to Call when TalkBack was enabled.
Various phone deals are available at Best Buy, Walmart, Samsung, Amazon, Verizon, and AT&T for those looking to upgrade to a Galaxy S25 device ahead of the One UI 8 stable release. Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the mid-August release date.
