In a significant move, Samsung has started the rollout of the One UI 8 Watch update for its range of smartwatches. The update, which brings new health features and a streamlined user interface, is now available for several models, including the Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, and the Galaxy Watch 5 series.

The update, based on Wear OS 6, marks the fourth major OS update for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic since their launch, upgrading from Wear OS 3 to Wear OS 6 with One UI 8 Watch. The update is expected to improve performance and battery life on these devices.

The Galaxy Watch 5 series, part of the initial One UI 8 Watch Beta Program, is also confirmed to receive the stable update. Interestingly, the Galaxy Watch 8 series, which was released with Wear OS 6 and One UI 8 pre-installed, already runs the latest software.

The One UI 8 Watch update is a significant enhancement for the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2024), the first current Wear OS smartwatch to get the Wear OS 6 update. The update brings a redesigned UI, with the focus on making essential features more accessible. The updated One UI 8 Watch look is designed to better fit the smaller screen of the Galaxy Watch Ultra.

The new health features included in the One UI 8 Watch update are Running Coach, Bedtime Guidance, Vascular Load, and Antioxidant Index. These features aim to provide users with more personalized health insights. At present, only the 2024 flagship Galaxy Watch Ultra is receiving the One UI 8 Watch upgrade.

The update was confirmed by U.S. users on Reddit and was released just weeks after beta testing in the U.S. and South Korea. The update for the Galaxy Watch Ultra is approximately 2GB in size. However, the update does not appear to be available for the Galaxy Watch 8 or the 2025 Watch Ultra at this time.

Here's a summary of the One UI 8 Watch update status for various Samsung smartwatches:

| Smartwatch Model | Update Status | |--------------------------|--------------------------------| | Galaxy Watch 4 | Confirmed, rolling out | | Galaxy Watch 4 Classic | Confirmed, rolling out | | Galaxy Watch 5 series | Confirmed, beta and rolling out | | Galaxy Watch 8 series | Released with Wear OS 6/One UI 8 pre-installed | | Galaxy Watch Ultra (2024) | Confirmed, rolling out | | Galaxy Watch 8 | Not available at this time | | 2025 Watch Ultra | Not available at this time |
