Hey there, crypto enthusiasts! Kickstart your day with today's crypto news roundup.

Today, we're diving into the buzz surrounding XRP ETFs in the US and their potential impact on Ripple's XRP token. As the prospects for this financial instrument grow, experts' take on the possible upshot for Ripple is hotter than ever.

Top Crypto News of the Day: XRP ETF Inflows Set for $8.3 Billion, Standard Chartered Predicts

The crypto world has been abuzz with chatter about XRP ETFs this week, with everything from baseless rumors and delays in key decisions to uncertainty looming. But one thing seems certain: the XRP ETF conversation is gaining steam faster than a rocket ship.

The recent green light for ProShares' leveraged futures XRP ETF has everyone feeling optimistic. Now, anticipation is building like wildfire.

In a recent article by US Crypto News, analyst Eric Balchunas stated they've raised the odds to 85%. This prediction has spurred divergent opinions on how such a product might fare.

"XRP price could skyrocket to $12.23 or $22.20 after ETF Approval if XRP ETFs Get 15% to 30% of Bitcoin ETF Inflows," a popular XRP account shared.[1]

With XRP trading at a mere $2.22, a rise could be just what the doctor ordered.

When we reached out to Standard Chartered for their take, the bank's head of digital assets research, Geoff Kendrick, admitted it was tough to estimate exact inflow figures. However, he suggested that data from Europe could provide some insights.

"The amount of eventual inflows to XRP ETFs is difficult to estimate. However, Bitwise has listed ETPs in Germany for XRP, Solana, Litecoin, BTC, and ETH, which may offer a useful point of comparison," Kendrick said.

Utilizing this comparison, Kendrick made some fascinating estimates on how an XRP ETF might perform and its impact on XRP price.[4]

He based his predictions on the NAV-to-market-cap ratios of already approved US spot ETFs and boldly projected that a US-listed spot XRP ETF could attract as much as $8.3 billion in inflows within its first year.

Kendrick Sees Ripple Price at $8, Bitfinex Analysts Question Investor Interest for XRP ETFs

Kendrick expects Ripple price increases to mirror Bitcoin price growth targets. As discussed in a recent US Crypto News article, the bank sees Bitcoin's price reaching $120,000 in Q2, $200,000 by the end of 2025, and $500,000 by 2028.

He forecasts the Ripple price to climb to $8 by 2026, provided spot XRP ETF approvals come to fruition in the US. This would represent a whopping 260% increase from the current price of $2.22.[4]

However, analysts at Bitfinex caution against blind optimism, suggesting that investor interest in a US-based spot XRP ETF may not reach the levels witnessed in Bitcoin ETFs.

"We anticipate limited inflows into an XRP ETF since some investors could choose to diversify their crypto ETF holdings. However, it's unlikely to see the volume of inflows experienced by Bitcoin," Bitfinex analysts stated.[4]

The contrasting viewpoints underscore broader ambiguity about how altcoin ETFs might fare in a regulated US market. Bitcoin's dominance and evolving regulatory attitudes toward digital assets still exert a significant influence on the crypto landscape in the US.

As of now, Grayscale, Wisdom Tree, Bitwise, Canary, and 21Shares have filed for XRP ETF approvals with the SEC. Bitwise's application has gained official acknowledgment on February 18, triggering various timelines for the approval, denial, or extension of the application.

The final deadline is October 12, equivalent to the 'final deadline' for BTC ETF approvals on January 10, 2024, the day they were approved.[4]

However, with other applications, including Solana and Litecoin, waiting in the wings, Kendrick pointed out that other applications in the pipeline could affect the timeline for XRP ETF approval.

"Litecoin seems most likely to progress the fastest, providing early insights into how the new SEC leadership will treat altcoin ETFs," Kendrick noted.[4]

As a hard fork of Bitcoin, Litecoin could potentially be viewed by the SEC as a commodity rather than a security. According to Kendrick, its resemblance to Bitcoin could make it easier for investors to comprehend.[4]

This aligns with Balchunas' prediction that a Litecoin ETF could take precedence over a Solana ETF.[3]
