❣️ Young blood, young blood - that's what the new Transformers flick is all about! Bots you know and love, now old as dirt, are given new life as they put on their shiny uniforms. Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, and Keegan-Michael Key are among the familiar faces, but instead of Optimus Prime, Megatron, Elita-One, and Bumblebee, we've got Orion Pax, D-16, Elita-1, and B-127.
🌎 Set on Cybertron, eons before a civil war brings doom to the planet, our quartet of protagonists bumble around as worker bots. Upon a cosmic accident that's a tad too common in sci-fi tales, these mechanical marvels find themselves on the planet's surface, where they acquire the ability to transform... and then some. Picture Optimus shuffling about with his noggin compressed into his chest or Bumblebee scooting along with wheel hands - hilarity ensues!
👨👩👦👦 Aimed more at the pint-sized demographic, Transformers One marks a distinct change from the usual mid-teen audience the franchise has favored. The visuals of our mechanized friends frolicking about on the big screen will give younger eyes a feast for their optics. With the film's depiction of Cybertron channeling the famed Generation 1 aesthetic, it seems the franchise might benefit from venturing into full-blown animation more often.
