Fifth Edition of Cybersecurity Leaders Program Introduced by CBK to Enhance National Proficiency in Cybersecurity

The Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) has announced the launch of the fifth cycle of its "Cybersecurity Leaders Program," the latest initiative to fortify the nation's banking sector and enhance cybersecurity proficiency [1]. This program is an integral part of the CBK's broader "Kafa'a" program, a collaborative effort with Kuwaiti banks and the Institute of Banking Studies (IBS), as per reports from Al-Jarida daily [2].

The program, spearheaded by CBK Governor Basil Al-Haroun, who also chairs the IBS, will cultivate a new generation of Kuwaiti leaders in cybersecurity [2]. This advance training course is tailored for Kuwaiti professionals specializing in information and network security, offering an unparalleled opportunity to hone skills and bolster leadership capacity in the field [2].

The goal is to develop a pool of technologically advanced cybersecurity leaders capable of designing and implementing cutting-edge frameworks suited for Kuwait's banking and financial institutions [1]. The program will partner with the SANS Institute, a world-renowned cybersecurity training provider known for its comprehensive courses and globally accredited certifications [1]. The three-month course will conclude with a workshop in collaboration with the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), adding an international perspective to participants' expertise [1].

Interested Kuwaiti professionals can apply during the period spanning from May 29 to June 30 [2]. To be eligible, applicants should be Kuwaiti professionals specializing in information and network security, and the selection process will depend on written assessments and personal interviews [2]. The application procedure can be found on the official Kafa'a initiative website: kafaakw.org [2].

As part of the CBK's long-term vision, this program aims to create a resilient financial sector capable of countering the cybersecurity risks brought about by the digital age [2]. By reinforcing Kuwait's digital infrastructure and cultivating highly skilled cybersecurity professionals, the CBK seeks to ensure that the financial sector is prepared to face emerging threats [3].
