New Features in the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i (Gen 10)

Compared to the Gen 9 model, the Yoga Book 9i (Gen 10) presents the following adjustments:

  1. Processors: The Arrow Lake series' Core Ultra 7 255H or Core Ultra 9 285H chipsets replace the Meteor Lake Core Ultra CPUs. These processors significantly boost performance, especially in multi-core tasks.
  2. Graphics: The new integrated Arc 140T GPU packs a powerful punch, outperforming its predecessor.
  3. RAM and Storage: The new LPDDR5x RAM runs at 8400MHz compared to the Gen 9's 7467MHz. Storage options remain mostly unchanged, with 512GB or 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs.
  4. Screen Size and Refresh Rate: Each of the 14-inch OLED displays now supports a 120Hz refresh rate and brighter bezels for a more contemporary appearance.
  5. Colors: The device now flaunts stylish Tidal Teal finish.
  6. Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi 7 replaces Wi-Fi 6E as the primary connection standard.

First Impressions: Lenovo Yoga Book 9i (Gen 10)

In my initial four-hour usage, the revamped Lenovo Yoga Book 9i left a positive impact. Main highlights are:

Design

The Lenovo Yoga Book, as expected, follows its modern design language, featuring a sustainable magnesium casing, rounded edges, and a slender profile. However, the lack of a built-in stand, which is found on the ASUS Zenbook DUO, and the need for a bulky folding stand support could be concerns.

Display

The generously sized 14-inch OLED displays with a 2.8K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits brightness, and DCI-P3 color reproduction make for an incredible viewing experience. Inking with the active pen is expected to be smooth, thanks to the device's standard 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and tilt detection.

Keyboard and Touchpad

While the keyboard is excellent, with deep travel and keyboard backlighting, the touchpad setup may present some challenges. The keyboard snaps magnetically to the lower screen, with the touch display transforming into one large touchpad or a hub for widgets. However, using the device in a dual-screen mode with the origami stand requires an external mouse for navigating.

Performance and Battery
