Yakutsk Celebrates 393rd Anniversary with Big Data Analysis

The city of Yakutsk, located in the Republic of Sakha, recently celebrated its 393rd anniversary over the past weekend. The celebrations were held at the main event locations - Old Town and Revolution Square, and attracted a diverse group of attendees.

Approximately 65% of the attendees did not have children, according to the analysis of anonymized big data. The most common age group among attendees was 35 to 44 years old. More than half of the attendees led a healthy lifestyle.

The gender distribution of event attendees was approximately 60% women. Residents of 33 districts of Yakutia attended the anniversary celebrations, with the most attended districts being Megino-Kangalassky, Hangalassky, Suntarsky, and Churapchinsky. Visitors from the most remote settlements of Momsky, Srednekolymsky, and Abyisky districts also attended the celebrations.

Tourists from other countries and regions, as well as residents of Yakutia's districts, made up nearly 20% of all attendees. The most numerous foreign visitors to Yakutsk's anniversary were from China and Kazakhstan. Apart from Moscow and St. Petersburg, the top leaders in terms of attendance were Primorsky Krai, followed by Novosibirsk Oblast, with Irkutsk Oblast, Khabarovsk Krai, and Krasnodar Krai rounding out the top three.

The event was analyzed using MTS's digital ecosystem and the GeoEffect geospatial platform to determine the profile of the event attendees. By analyzing big data from the Yakutsk anniversary celebrations, visitor flows, including age, gender, place of residence, and routes within the region, can be determined.

MTSC Director in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Prokopy Neustruev, stated that big data analysis can provide valuable insights into visitor flows to republican and city-scale events in Yakutia. Analyzing big data from the Yakutsk anniversary celebrations helps assess event outcomes, identify target audiences, and understand the region's tourist capacity. Big data analysis from events in Yakutia can help event organizers increase the efficiency and appeal of these events.
