European defense mandate secures €112M initial funding for Omnes Real Tech 2, a project led by Omnes Capital.
In a significant move for the European deeptech market, Omnes Capital has announced the launch of Omnes Real Tech 2, a new fund designed to support fast-growing European deeptech companies. This fund is the first in Europe to benefit from the European Union's defence mandate and will focus on investing in foundational sectors, including defence and security, artificial intelligence (AI), new space, quantum technology, electronic components, and advanced materials.
With a strategy that emphasises diversified sector and geographic exposure, particularly in Germany and Italy, Omnes Real Tech 2 aims to support European deeptech companies through their early growth phase, helping them evolve towards scalable industrial and business models. The fund has already undertaken its first investment, with €112 million raised at the first close, backing German company ARX Robotics, a specialist in unmanned ground vehicles for the defence industry.
The leadership team behind Omnes Real Tech 2 includes Fabien Collangettes, Renaud Poulard, Michel de Lempdes, and Francois-Xavier Dedde. The fund is backed by various European institutional investors, including Bpifrance, France 2030, the European Investment Fund, BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole Assurances, and several family offices.
The deeptech market in Europe has experienced strong growth, with over €27 billion raised by deeptech startups last year, representing a growth rate of 18%. Europe has a strong capacity to tackle current challenges in sectors like defence, industry, health, and energy, backed by world-leading scientific research, a new generation of entrepreneurs, and funding mechanisms from all European countries.
The support from Omnes Real Tech 2 fund is accelerating ARX Robotics' industrial scale-up and consolidating their position as a European leader in unmanned ground vehicles. According to the CEO of ARX Robotics, Marc Wietfeld, having investors who understand industrial and technological challenges is essential in the demanding defence industry.
The fund's strategy includes providing continued support across several phases of a company's development, including follow-on investments. With its focus on foundational sectors and its European network of deeptech entrepreneurs and sector experts, built over 20 years, Omnes Real Tech 2 is poised to make a significant impact on the European deeptech landscape. The fund is expected to reach final close in 2026.
