Enhancing Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity, Synaptics introduces the SYN20708 dual-core Bluetooth System-on-Chip (SoC)
Synaptics Incorporated, a leading provider of human interface solutions, has announced the launch of a new product: the SYN20708 dual-core system on chip (SoC) for Bluetooth 5.4 and IEEE 802.15.4.
The SYN20708 SoC is designed to address the need for flexible and robust connectivity in wireless IoT networks and nodes. It comes with Veros' renowned software and ease of integration, allowing customers to innovate swiftly while meeting demanding latency and range requirements.
Vineet Ganju, VP of Wireless Marketing at Synaptics, states that the SYN20708 provides device makers with a high-performance BT/BLE and 802.15.4 dual-core connectivity solution. The SoC supports Bluetooth Classic Audio and LE Audio, BLE Long Range, angle of departure (AoD), and angle of arrival (AoA).
The SYN20708 SoC is Matter-compliant and supports Bluetooth 5.4, Bluetooth 6.0 (including Channel Sounding), Zigbee, Thread, and concurrently on both cores. It also supports IEEE 802.15.4 (OpenThread and ZBOSS) up to Version 2.
To further enhance the connectivity experience, Synaptics' proprietary CoEX technology is included for enhanced coexistence in the 2.4 GHz band. The SoC also features dual-antenna maximum ratio combining (MRC) and transmit beamforming (TxBF) for extended range.
The SYN20708 SoC is based on a modular software architecture for streamlined development of devices compatible with multiple heterogeneous wireless connections and protocols. It also comes with an open-source BLE stack to support full MCU mode.
The SYN20708 SoC is intended for applications including dedicated home hubs, soundbars, automotive infotainment systems, control panels, and various consumer, automotive, healthcare, and industrial systems. The product brief and images can be found on the Synaptics website, and the SoC is available now.
