Energy company Envision Energy joins forces with FERA Australia to accelerate development of a 1-gigawatt wind energy project and a 1.5-gigawatt-hour energy storage system in Australia.
In a significant move towards a sustainable energy future, Envision Energy and FERA Australia have announced a groundbreaking collaboration. This partnership, the first of its kind in Australia, aims to develop renewable energy projects with up to 1 Gigawatt (GW) of wind generation capacity and 1.5 Gigawatt-hours (GWh) of battery energy storage across the National Electricity Market (NEM).
Established in 2019, FERA Australia brings two decades of expertise in site identification, design, construction, and operation of renewable energy plants to the table. The team at FERA Australia is driven by a strong desire to contribute to Australia's transition towards a clean energy future.
The partnership will kick off with a pilot project in Victoria, featuring Envision Energy's full converter wind turbines, grid-forming battery storage, and advanced Hybrid Power Plant Controller (HPPC) technology. This hybrid system is designed to improve grid reliability and unlock new value streams for the energy market.
Envision Energy's platform integrates next-generation containerized battery systems and grid-forming power conversion technology, enhancing the capability to balance supply and demand on the grid while supporting renewable integration.
This collaboration is seen as a major step forward in Australia’s clean energy transition. By demonstrating how hybrid wind and storage projects can contribute to a more flexible and stable electricity grid, it helps Australia reach its renewable energy goals.
The initiative reflects growing confidence in Envision’s technology and FERA’s expertise in renewable development. It sets benchmarks for future projects and signals potential expansion beyond the pilot to a full 1 GW wind and 1.5 GWh storage capacity in the medium term.
The partnership will not only enhance grid stability and resilience through hybrid renewable projects but also foster innovative integration of wind and battery storage technologies. It accelerates Australia's move towards a decarbonized electricity sector by providing clean, dispatchable power solutions.
This model of international collaboration, contributing advanced technical expertise and scalable solutions within Australia's renewable energy landscape, is a testament to the growing global focus on sustainable energy solutions.
