Embraer Jets receive Starlink upgrade in latest after-sales offering, enhancing in-flight connectivity
Embraer, a leading manufacturer of business jets, has announced that its Praetor and Legacy jets will soon be equipped with Starlink satellite internet, ensuring a seamless connectivity experience for passengers, even in remote areas or over oceans.
The high-speed, low-latency Wi-Fi solution is provided through a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) developed in partnership with Nextant Aerospace. This move strengthens Embraer's commitment to providing connected flight experiences around the world.
The Praetor 500 and Legacy 450 have already received FAA approval for installation, while the Praetor 600 and Legacy 500 are expected to be certified in the third quarter of 2025 (Q3 2025). Following this, certification from Brazil’s ANAC is expected in the fourth quarter of 2025 (Q4 2025), and EASA certification is anticipated in the first quarter of 2026 (Q1 2026).
Operators of Praetor and Legacy jets can now equip their aircraft with Starlink Wi-Fi directly through the manufacturer. Jay Heublein, President of Technical Services at Flexjet, stated that Starlink has over a year of operational experience and hundreds of kits sold to the business aviation fleet.
Marsha Woelber, VP of Customer Support and Aftermarket Sales for Executive Jets at Embraer, expressed her excitement about bringing Starlink's high-speed internet to their customers. She added that Embraer will install Starlink kits at its authorized service centers globally once the certification is complete.
Starlink delivers connectivity even in remote areas or over oceans using a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites. It ensures that passengers can enjoy high-speed internet for demanding applications like 4K video calls and VPN access, even during long-haul flights.
Notably, JSX outfitted its entire fleet of 40 Embraer regional jets with Starlink in 2023, and United Airlines received approval to install Starlink Wi-Fi on its Embraer 175 regional aircraft earlier this year.
The Praetor, one of the most technologically advanced business jets in its category, will undoubtedly benefit from this upgrade, providing passengers with a truly connected flight experience.
