Elon Musk resumes his sleep habits of resting in meeting rooms and manufacturing facilities.

In a shift from his recent political engagements, entrepreneur Elon Musk has announced his renewed focus on leading his companies, following a two-hour outage on social media platform X. Musk, who has been actively involved in US President Trump's administration, expressed the need for larger operational improvements in his businesses.

After the outage at X, Musk explained that his companies required "larger operational improvements", hinting at his mandate to regain control and stability within his ventures. These include Tesla, the electric vehicle manufacturer; SpaceX, the aerospace company; X, the newly rebranded Twitter; and xAI, the AI developer with the chatbot Grok.

Musk has confirmed he will return to a 24/7 work schedule, resuming his sleep in conference rooms, server rooms, and factory facilities to ensure the success of X, xAI, and Tesla. A key component of his renewed focus is the upcoming launch of SpaceX's Starship next week, following the top stage explosion in the rocket's previous two test flights.

Since January, Musk has been a driving force behind the government department for state efficiency (Doge), pushing for massive cuts in the US government apparatus with the goal of reducing costs. However, Musk recently announced that he would scale back this activity to focus on his core businesses, possibly to avoid further distractions and controversies faced by companies like Tesla.

Elon Musk's decision to refocus on his businesses comes at a time when Tesla is facing significant challenges, including a 71% profit drop in Q1 2025, due in part to political controversies and weakening demand. Musk's political alignment has led to protests and boycotts, particularly affecting Tesla's European market. With the pivot away from politics, Tesla's valuation could potentially stabilize, reducing political exposure and potentially unlocking pent-up demand. However, risks remain due to lingering political ties.

Elon Musk's renewed focus on leading his companies, such as Tesla, SpaceX, and the newly rebranded Twitter, indicates a shift from his political engagements. In the realm of business and technology, he aims to address the need for larger operational improvements in these ventures, given the current challenges they face, like the 71% profit drop at Tesla in Q1 2025, due to political controversies and weakening demand.
