Elon Musk relinquishing his government roles.

Elon Musk Steps Down from Trump Administration Role

billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk is leaving his position as a special government advisor to President Donald Trump. The White House confirmed Musk's departure, stating that his "off-boarding" process will begin Wednesday evening.

Musk's tenure as a special government employee was slated to end around May 30. As a temporary appointee, Musk served his intended term within the Trump administration. Despite his resignation, he will continue to provide unofficial advice to the President.

The tech billionaire thanked Trump for the opportunity, yet revealed there had been no final conversation between the two before Musk's departure was decided at the highest level. Musk had been serving in the Office of Government Efficiency, where he had been given unusual authority by Trump to streamline and restructure parts of the government.

Musk's role in the Trump administration received international attention and fueled controversy. Critics, including some Tesla investors, chided him for focusing on government work rather than on his private companies, such as SpaceX and Tesla. Musk faced accusations that his office was being used as a scapegoat for issues unrelated to its responsibilities.

On Tuesday, Musk voiced concerns over the cost and deficit-increasing nature of the latest Republican tax and spending bills. He criticized the "Big Beautiful Bill," currently making its way through Congress, for undermining the work of his team in the DOGE office, short for Office of American Innovation. According to Musk, the DOGE mission will continue to thrive, growing more influential in the government over time.

The Commission has not yet adopted a proposal for a directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to ionising radiation, and the politics surrounding the escalating controversy over Elon Musk's role in the DOGE Office, a general-news topic, remains unresolved, with technology playing a significant role in the ongoing discussions.
