Elemental Energy unveils its new 200 and 500kVA hybrid hydrogen - battery energy storage system, designed to enhance power distribution and replace conventional combustion generators.

Elemental Energy, a leading advanced energy and hydrogen engineering company based in the UK, has unveiled its latest innovation - the H2IPO200 & 500kVA hybrid hydrogen-battery energy storage system (BESS) solution. This groundbreaking technology is specifically designed to cater to the power needs of the construction sector, paving the way for a more sustainable and efficient energy solution.

The H2IPO200 & 500kVA system offers a next-generation power system that combines hydrogen fuel cells with battery storage to provide reliable, renewable power. With configurations available in 200 kVA and 500 kVA, the solution is scalable to meet the varying power requirements of construction sites.

Michael Patterson, Founder and CEO of Elemental Energy, commented, "Our new H2IPO models are ready for commercial markets. They are engineered to optimise power supply on construction sites, ensuring consistent energy availability without interruptions common in traditional systems."

The solution is designed to eliminate conventional combustion engine generators, which are known for their noise and pollutant emissions. Instead, it replaces them with zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell technology, significantly reducing environmental impact and improving site safety and compliance.

The hybrid hydrogen-BESS system also offers a large integrated battery energy storage system (BESS) that can be charged directly by any on-site AC or DC power supplies or its internal hydrogen fuel-cells. This feature ensures a clean, renewable form of energy that supports sustainability goals in construction projects.

The innovative design of the H2IPO systems results in a plug-and-play energy hub with a 15+ year service life, significantly simplifying on-site power delivery. The systems are compact and robust, making them particularly useful in the UK and European construction industry.

The launch of the H2IPO200 & 500 systems took place at VINCI Group's Innovation Inspiration Day 2025, highlighting the system's advanced technology and its alignment with industry innovation trends. The systems also address the industry's struggles with system integration and delivering clean hydrogen fuel to sites.

The new solution, H2IPO, includes a hydrogen mini-trailer that cuts fuel costs and simplifies site power delivery. It builds on the company's H2IPO100, first introduced in 2024. The company has also made improvements that enable the growth of a fleet of these power hubs.

The H2IPO200 & 500kVA system's scalable designs cater to the power needs of the construction sector, making it a viable choice for the energy requirements of technology-driven construction projects. With its zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell technology and integrated battery energy storage system, this solution aligns with the finance sector's growing interest in sustainable and environmentally friendly investment opportunities in the energy industry.
